  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika (smoked or sweet)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 4 pita pockets
  • 1 cup lettuce (shredded)
  • 1 medium tomato (diced)
  • 1/2 cucumber (diced)
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese (crumbled)
  • 1/4 cup tzatziki sauce

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • spatula
  • Microwave or oven

Method

Sauté Aromatics
  1. Heat 1 tsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring often, until the onion is soft and translucent and the garlic is fragrant.
Cook Ground Beef
  1. Add ground beef, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Break the meat apart with a spatula and cook for 5 to 7 minutes until fully browned with no pink remaining. Drain excess fat if needed.
Warm Pita Pockets
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and warm pita pockets for about 5 minutes, or microwave each one for 30 seconds until soft and pliable.
Fill with Layers
  1. Carefully open each pita pocket and fill with a generous scoop of the cooked beef mixture. Add layers of shredded lettuce, diced tomato, and diced cucumber for freshness and crunch.
Top and Serve
  1. Finish each pita with crumbled feta cheese and a drizzle of tzatziki sauce. Serve immediately while the filling is warm and the veggies are crisp.
