  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1/2 Sweet Onion
  • 1/2 Bell Pepper Any color you prefer.
  • 6-8 Baby Carrots
  • 2 tsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 Tbsp Butter Vegan butter or coconut oil can substitute.
  • 2 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Seasoned Salt
  • 2 Sprigs Fresh Thyme Or 1/2 tsp ground thyme.
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • 1 Scotch Bonnet Pepper Optional: Extremely spicy.

Equipment

  • Medium-large pot
  • strainer
  • Knife
  • Cutting board

Method

Step 1: Prep Ingredients
  1. Roughly chop your cabbage and rinse the chopped cabbage in a strainer. Set it aside. Dice or slice your carrots, onion, and bell pepper, and set them aside as well.
Step 2: Heat the Pot
  1. Over high heat, add olive oil and 1 Tbsp of butter to a medium-large pot until the butter melts. Use a pot large enough for all your ingredients.
Step 3: Sauté Garlic
  1. Add minced garlic to the pot and stir quickly to release its fragrance without letting it burn.
Step 4: Cook Veggies
  1. Stir in the bell peppers, carrots, and onions. Mix the ingredients well and let them cook for 2–3 minutes.
Step 5: Add Seasoning
  1. Add your chopped cabbage to the pot along with the remaining Tbsp of butter, fresh thyme, onion powder, seasoned salt, black pepper, and paprika.
Step 6: Steam
  1. Pour the water into the pot for an instant sizzle, then cover the pot with a lid. Cook on high for a minute or two, then lower the heat to medium-low and cook for another 10 minutes.
Step 7: Adjust Texture
  1. Stir the ingredients in the pot until well combined. If you prefer crisp cabbage, cook it for an additional 10 minutes. For a softer texture, simmer for 10–15 minutes longer.
Step 8: Finish
  1. Remove the sprigs of thyme (and Scotch bonnet pepper, if added). Plate the dish and serve immediately!
